High School Mission Trip Blog

Sunday morning we went to First Christian Church in Greeneville. The church was very welcoming to all of us, and I feel like we learned a lot. We later after the service we went to eat lunch and had the choice of Bojangles or Zaxby’s. Later after lunch, we went to Walmart and bought some essentials and goodies. We later went on to hike Margarette Falls, and it was beautiful. Seeing God’s creation and seeing all of the beautiful mountains was absolutely breathtaking. We later came back to Longview Ranch. We were so excited to have all of our stuff from Walmart, so we went back to the cabins and put everything away and organized. We ended our day off with pizza, devotions, and praise and worship, then we had our small groups and practiced our Ephesians verses. After that, we had fun with our free time. Some girls had a girls’ night and baked a cake, pretzels, chocolate balls, and chocolate-covered strawberries. At the end of the evening, we surprised Mr. Hood with some freshly baked goods for his birthday.

Missions Day Two 03/08

Today, a good group of the kids were outside early to watch God’s wonderful sunrise. Later, we came to the dining hall to enjoy an amazing breakfast the staff at Longview were very kind to make for all of us. We had TAG time for twenty minutes and it was a great way to start our day by spending time in the word of Christ in Ephesians chapter two. Once we got finished up, Kailan, a super kind intern at Longview, told us what work we would be doing that day, which was painting all of the fences. It wasn’t hard work, but we all got covered in paint, which was a bit of a hassle trying to get off. 

A bit after, we were called in for another delicious lunch made by the beautiful staff at Longview Ranch. Once we finished, we were all told it had started to rain, so a few people stayed in the dining hall and relaxed on the couches while a handful of people went outside to paint fences and do other jobs the staff needed help with getting done. Once the jobs were ended, we all started going our own ways and relaxing, while some others played games. 

Tonight, we are all looking forward to dinner, worship led by Carlos/Macy/Isabella/Brady, and a time of discussion on Ephesians 2. As a class, we are working on memorizing most of Ephesians, so we will break up into small groups to work on our different verses. We are having a lovely time! Please pray we continue to grow in unity and love for our Savior, and that we all stay healthy and safe!
